I know its been a while since I've done one of these, but its got to be done. My book of choice for this week is Marvel's X-Force #2.

X-Force #2
Writers: Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle
Pencils: Clayton Crain

What is the X-force? Well the X-force is a covert strike team that Cyclops has formed to help ensure the survival of the mutant race. Formed entirely of X-men members, the group takes out any opposition that would mean to harm mutant-kind and right now its the Purifiers. For those of you who don't know who the purifiers are they are a fanatical religious group who think that mutants are evil devils that oppose God's will and need to be eradicated. *Spoiler* In the first issue the Purifiers have successfully brought back Bastion and he has joined the group and assumed the role as the Purifier leader. With his help they intend to finish off the mutant race once and for all.

The second issue of the series takes off from the cliffhanger ending of the first and continues with the overall theme of the book, blood. (The first issue even had a 'blood' variant) Team X-force continues on their mission to find who they believe is the current leader of the Purifiers, Matthew Risman. The end of the issue leaves the reader with a big reveal, that makes you say WTF! Definitely worth picking up the series to see where this thing ends. Could it be the end of mutants?

Other books worth checking out this week:

Green Lantern #28: Always a steady read since the end of the Sinestro War. This issue also features a little more insight into what I like to call the 'Rainbow Rings'.

Buffy TVS #12: Although I didn't follow the TV series (i know i should get up on it) i am assured that the ending is a big WTF moment as well. Plus there is some sweet slayer action and poking fun of said slayer action.

Logan #1 of 3: Written by Brian K Vaughan so its bound to be a decent read. It's about Logan and one of his many failed female relationships. Apparently he's just one big softie when it comes to the fairer sex.

Vinyl Underground #6: Paranormal investigators in London. I like it. Its a smart read with great art. If you're looking for something other than superheroes and spandex, this is a title I would recommend.

The Twelve #3 of 12: Last but definitely not least, would be the third installment of the Twelve. A series about 12 superheroes who fought in WW2 but were frozen in time (much like Captain Steve Rogers) but this time they're thawed out in our time. The book takes a look at the twelve heroes and how they adjust to a world that they thought they knew. A well written story by J. Michael Stracyznski that deserves to be read.

My pick of the week goes to The Twelve, although I did really enjoy the second issue of X-Force.

However, I was quite disappointed by ASM and Dark Tower has started to get on my nerves.
