I know May 2nd is a time when most people here are thinking about a certain man in iron, but off in the little Park Theater, a different kind of cinematic history is being made.

Back in 1981, three twelve year old friends saw Raiders of the Lost Ark and decided they would do a shot-for-shot remake, "Son of Rambow" style. Of course, Spielberg and his herd of lawyers moved quick to halt distribution of the finished product, but Spielberg was so impressed with it he made the filmmakers a deal. They would be allowed to screen their film if all the proceeds went to charity and one of the was present at the screening.

One such screening is going down at 6:30pm this Friday at the Park Theater. I don't know about you guys, but I think I can wait one more day for Iron Man. I'll just have to spend all of FCBD avoiding people who like to voice their opinions and spoilers Smile

I've heard a lot about The Adaptation and have seen a few clips comparing the original and the "sweded" remake. I would have loved to see the screening tonight but it appears as if I've already missed it.

I hear that The Adaptation is shot-for-shot accurate, can anyone who attended the screening tonight confirm?

oh yeah. shot-for-shot, start to finish.

well, they did cut some of the wide shots, and the scene with the plane fight. But buildings, cars, and people caught fire. Faces melted. People were dragged behind/thrown off of trucks. Chins were scratched. Girls wrote "I love you" on their eyelids.

And a fourteen year old in a fedora outran a massive fiber glass boulder.
